IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing System. It is a globally recognized English proficiency exam required for admission into prestigious universities in countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia. The test is jointly managed by Cambridge Assessment English, the British Council, and IDP Education. Non-native English speakers typically need to achieve a high IELTS score to qualify for study abroad opportunities.
IELTS is one of the most widely accepted English language assessments in the world, recognized by over 10,000 institutions in more than 140 countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, and across Europe. Its certification is accepted by universities, employers, professional organizations, and government agencies for academic admissions and immigration. Available throughout the year, IELTS can be taken at over 1600 testing centers globally, helping students gain entry into leading universities.

Candidates can reschedule their test at least five weeks before the original test date. The new date must fall within three months of the original. An administrative fee applies.
Difficulty: Many find TOEFL more challenging than IELTS.
Recognition: IELTS is more accepted in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand; TOEFL is popular in the USA and Canada.
